"A Child's Smile - Makes It All Worthwhile"
The Oshawa Shrine Clowns are best known for their colourful make up and participation in parades circuses and rousting about. There is also a serious side to the Oshawa Clowns, whereby for the last 35 years, they have undertaken to support the network of the Shrine Hospitals who treat children with orthopedic problems, burns and spinal cord injuries at no cost to the patient until their 18th birthday.
What makes these Clowns tick. With their makeup, red nose, and large floppy clown shoes, when they go out to visit a children's ward at any of the Durham Region Hospitals, to see the happy faces and the great smiles on the children's faces is what makes it all worthwhile, especially when we can twist a balloon into a poodle dog or do a little magic trick. To see how we function, I extend an informal invitation to any member of the Shrine to come to a Clown Meeting, which is usually held the first Monday of the month, or contact any of the executive members who will be able to fill you in with the help of putting on a clown face and patterns for a clown outfit.
In closing, I can speak for all of the Clowns, Do We Like It? We Love It!
Yours in the faith,
Rubi The Clown
